CBOT futures closed widely mixed and far below the day’s highs; wheat and corn ended near the lows. Cattle futures closed higher after trading lower early in the day. Lean hog futures closed higher on continued strong cash hog fundamentals.

CBOT futures closed strongly to sharply higher with closing prices at/near the day’s highs. Live and feeder cattle futures closed lower with feeders taking the brunt of the pressure due to sharp corn price gains.  Lean hog futures closed slightly lower for a second day.

CBOT futures closed strongly higher due to Russia attacking Ukraine’s Odesa port, just hours after agreeing to allow Ukraine to export grain by sea. Live cattle closed slightly higher while feeder cattle dropped due to the CBOT rally. Lean hog futures closed mixed with nearby weakness and strength in 2023 contracts.

CBOT futures closed sharply lower with corn taking the biggest hit – the September Corn contract made new lows for the current downtrend, hitting a level last seen in January. Cattle futures closed mixed with Live Cattle slightly lower and Feeder Cattle slightly higher. Lean hog futures closed slightly lower except for the nearby August LH contract.

CBOT futures closed higher to sharply higher, supported by unfavorable weather forecasts during the critical pollination period, a weaker U.S. dollar and higher energy futures. Cattle futures closed higher with feeders limited by the higher CBOT futures. Lean hog futures closed strongly higher led by the August LH gaining $2.30/cwt.

CBOT futures closed mixed with gains in corn and losses in soybeans and wheat. Live and feeder cattle futures closed lower after making gains the past three trading days. Lean hog futures closed lower given the general weakness in commodities.

CBOT futures closed mixed but well off the day’s highs. Corn and soybeans found support from weather outlooks which are drier and warmer than “normal” out at least two weeks. Live cattle closed slightly higher but feeder futures posted large gains for a third straight day. Lean hog futures closed higher but stopped short of trading above last week’s highs.

CBOT futures closed sharply lower and near the day’s lows despite a relatively neutral USDA WASDE Report released at Noon EDT. Live cattle futures closed slightly higher but feeder cattle futures soared by over two percent thanks to the collapse in corn futures. Lean hog futures closed slightly higher, supported by stronger cash hog prices and pork cutouts.

CBOT futures closed widely mixed and nearer the day’s lows than the highs, the latter were set Sunday night. Cattle futures closed strongly higher after opening this morning in the red due to the sharp CBOT gains. Lean hog futures closed lower after testing Friday’s highs at the top of the recent trading range.

CBOT futures closed higher to sharply higher on short-covering and bargain buying following Tuesday’s sharp selloff. Cattle futures closed mixed with live cattle slightly higher and feeder futures down nearly a dollar/cwt. Lean hog futures closed higher with the best gains in the Oct/Dec/Feb contracts.
